Art as abstract meditation
Adrianus work is an expression of energy, a wisdom of unreality. A projection into the viewer's minds eye. Between Tibetan Meditation and Abstract Primitivism is his little world. Adrianus Johannes Fraza was born in the Netherlands in the city of Rotterdam on October 19th 1954. He was drawn to art at a young age and the passion never left him. However, the school system decided that Adrianus should not pursue an art education but instead earn a more practical degree. His schooling was of a technical nature. He went to the L.T.S. and learned to work with metal, wood and was trained in technical drawing. He then transferred to Christian Huygens School of Optometry and trained as an optician. Not satisfied with the life ahead of him, he decided to leave Holland and travel . In time his travels would take him around the world. He learned to meditate in a Tibetan monastery in the Himalayas and lived like a hippy painter on the coast of tropical Goa. He lived among artists at Kibbutz Revivim in Israel. He finaly settled down in Indiana, USA and has been working at his art ever since.
